Fan Repairing & Installation FAQ: Help yourself
Q1. Thrilling noise from Ceiling Fan.
A: This could be due to a mechanical problem – bad bearings or blades out of balance – or an electrical problem with the speed control. A quickie test. Get the fan turning at a speed that demonstrates the thrilling noise. Come up with a way to instantly remove power to the fan. If the noise continues for a little bit until the fan has slowed down enough, then you know the noise is in the mechanical dynamics, perhaps blades out of balance. If the noise quits instantly with power removal, then you need a better speed control better designed for fan motor control.

Q.2. How to Position 2 Ceiling Fans in a Single Room.
A: Some rooms are simply too large for a single ceiling fan, or the ceilings are so high that it makes more sense to use 2 fans instead of one. In general, rooms that are larger than 20′ x 15′ will be better served by 2 moderate size ceiling fans rather than 1 large fan. Rooms that are a bit smaller but have much higher ceilings can also use 2 fans for better circulation. So if you want to install 2 fans in the same room, it is important to know how to space them out properly for optimal performance.

Q.3. Why do some ceiling fans make noise?
A: A common cause of breakdown in inferior fans is the on/off pull chain switch. The generic switches used in low end fans are proned to failure because they use less expensive materials that cannot handle every day use. The internal mechanism can simply break or the switch chain may be pulled out of the housing. Often times, when a pull chain switch breaks in an inexpensive fan, the entire fan becomes useless because a replacement switch is most likely not available. We do not carry fans that do not have replacement parts available.
